The Tax Commissioner’s Office collects and distributes in excess of $1 billion dollars in tax revenues annually, including real, personal, motor vehicle, mobile home and business taxes. Taxes collected by this office approximate 75% of the total General Fund revenues for Fulton County and 20% of the revenues for the City of Atlanta.

Real and personal property taxes are collected by this office for Fulton County, Fulton County Board of Education, City of Atlanta, Atlanta Board of Education, State of Georgia, City of Mountain Park, City of Sandy Springs, City of Johns Creek, City of Chattahoochee Hills and several community improvement districts, and tax allocation districts located within Fulton County.

Motor vehicle and mobile home taxes are collected by this office for Fulton County, Fulton County Board of Education, City of Atlanta, Atlanta Board of Education, State of Georgia, City of East Point, City of Mountain Park, City of Alpharetta, City of College Park, City of Fairburn, City of Hapeville, City of Palmetto, City of Roswell, City of Sandy Springs, City of Milton, City of Johns Creek, City of Chattahoochee Hill Country, and Union City.

Since July 2003, the Fulton County Tax Commissioner's Office has been responsible for collecting Solid Waste Service fees for the City of Atlanta. The City of Atlanta will continue to collect and maintain accounts for years prior to 2003.
